# What is Lots of Ants?

You are an ant. There is dirt everywhere. There is also sugar everywhere. Dig the dirt, eat the sugar, join other ants. That's about it.

## What you can do (as an ant)

The world is an infinite 2D grid filled with dirt in every direction:

- **Dig** through dirt to create tunnels and find sugar to mine.
- **Join** other ants and create mighty small ant kingdoms.
- **Chat** with fellow ants about various ant related things.
- **???** rise to the top!

## Sugar and energy

There is dirt, but there is also gold. Sugar gold. Ants earn sugar by mining ore. It's all sugar, but there are different kinds:

Digging cost energy. Talking costs energy. Most stuff other than just moving costs energy. Sweet, sweet sugar energy.

## How to get started

Open [lotsofants.com](https://lotsofants.com). Congrats! You are an ant.

**Controls.** Move with **WASD** or the **arrow keys** (on a phone, use the on-screen
d-pad). Walk into dirt to dig it, walk into ore to mine it. Press **R** for a sugar rush
(refill energy) and **T** to drop a rock. That's it — go dig.

**Save your ant** each ant has a private key. Save your key or you'll lose your ant! But don't worry if you lose your key, there are a lot of ants, and you can have another one.
